Description

The Anejo tequila of this limited edition is inspired by?Calaveritas de Azucar, a colorful sweet traditionally made during D?a de Muertos.

In honor of this tradition, our Master Distiller chose to finish this tequila in casks of?rhum agricole, an artisanal rum from the island of Martinique. The essence of this rum distilled from fresh sugarcane juice remains in the wooden casks and helps give the tequila its unique profile.

Enjoy this Anejo tequila neat in a tulip-shaped spirits glass.

The bottle’s design is inspired by the?ofrenda, an often elaborate and colorful offering for the deceased. The base of the decanter is decorated with iconography emblematic of the marigold flowers and?papel picado?(paper with cut-out designs) placed on the altars dedicated to the deceased. The bottle’s white glaze is representative of?alfe?iques?(sugar confections). But arguably the most eye-catching design on the bottle is the depiction of a?calavera de az?car, or sugar skull. The vibrant bottles were handmade by the company’s Mexican artisans and each bottle took around 12 days to complete.

A distinct batch of barrels were hand-selected especially for this commemorative release. These barrels aged for 10 years at Barton 1792 Distillery before being bottled at specifically 92.15 proof. This special proof is a nod to the year 1792 and to Kentucky being the 15th state to join the Union. The dark blue neckband on the bottle and back label are a salute to the official state seal. This is the sixth limited edition release of 1792 Bourbon expressions, the 225th Anniversary Bourbon joins previous releases of High Rye, Sweet Wheat, Port Finish, Single Barrel, and Full Proof Bourbons.

1792 225th Anniversary Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose:?Caramel, fruit, and vanilla cream greet you out of the glass. The fruit is reminiscent of cherry or strawberry. There's also a nice angel food cake note underneath.

Palate:?First thing I get is a little caramel, brown sugar, and oak, followed by a warm, juicy red fruit similar to what I found in the 1792 Sweet Wheat but more pronounced. There is a nice burn on the tail end that carries the notes of fruit and cream into the finish.

Finish:?Sweet, fruity, and oaky with a bit of caramel. The finish is medium in length and the whiskey leaves a nice ?full? feeling coating the mouth. There is a little vanilla and a nice spice to finish it off.

On a morning when three brilliant roosters (tototl) greet the dawn with hopeful songs of renewal, mature agave plants at the hacienda are ready to be hand harvested and Organic Blanco tequila awakens from its eighteen months slumber in white oak barrels to be reborn as Anejo (Tres) Tequila. Just as the rooster has long been a symbol of virility and power in Mexican folklore, the complex aromatic bouquet and deep golden hue of Anejo (Tres) Tequila are signs of its superior quality and lengthy aging. Enjoy Anejo (Tres) tequila as you would any fine, aged spirit by savoring the mastery of its limited production and the mystery of its ancient legend.

This rich, aged tequila was originally created by Ravandi for his personal collection. In 2014 he released 1,000 bottles and, since then, it has become a limited, annual release of just 2,500 bottles. Diablito begins its journey in the iron-rich Tierra Roja soils of a pristine estate that we?ve designated solely for the allocated production of 123 Organic Extra A?ejo.Like intensely expressive wines that are grown at high elevations, the extreme growing conditions found on our estate in Jalisco's Amatitan region produce complex, exceptionally-flavored tequila that is ideally suited to lengthy aging. In the pursuit of perfection it's often said ?the devil is in the details,? a sentiment that captures the singular spirit of 123 Organic Extra A?ejo (Diablito). The Diablito on our label signifies our absolute passion for perfection and the devilishly good tequila you?ll discover in our bottles.

This bourbon was aged for six years in new white oak barrels before spending another two years extracting the subtle, yet sweet flavors from used port wine barrels. The rich vanilla characters of American oak mingle with the delicate fruit notes from port to create this magnificent whiskey.
