In 1973, Chamisal became the first winery to plant vines in the Edna Valley - a gamble that paved the way forward for one of California's most revered wine regions.As farmers and stewards of the land, we're constantly striving to find its highest and best use. Our unique soil types and proximity to the ocean have convinced us that it's Chardonnay. At Chamisal, we're committed to growing truly world-class Chardonnay and showcasing each vineyard's unique characteristics.Unlike our winegrowing brethren in Burgundy, we haven't had multiple centuries to study the intricacies of our terroir-the sense of place created by the interaction of soils, climate, and topography. Since 1973, we have been determining the best way to grow incredible grapes here, and we are continually refining our vineyard as our knowledge and experience grow.

Product Description

The California Gold Rush was a period of courage, bravado and curiosity. It was with these characteristics in mind that we crafted Gold Rush Red. Grapes chosen from the golden hills and valleys of California were blended to create this bold, adventurous testament to that intrepid spirit. Parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Zinfandel form the backbone of this wine. Petite Sirah and Merlot were then meticulously selected to add complexity to this intense blend. Each lot began its journey in traditional French and American wine barrels. Then, in true 1000 Stories fashion, winemaker Bob Blue divided the blend, finishing it in a combination of new and used bourbon barrels. The result is a signature 1000 Stories profile: a bold wine with intriguing notes of dried herbs, charred vanilla and a pleasant hint of smoke.

Don't let this masterful blend escape you. Each powerful note brings you one step closer to a night filled with mischief and fun. The Warden is a Shiraz-based red blend with tons of richness and complexity. On the nose, there is ample plum, currant, and cherry intermixed with vanilla and cinnamon spice. The same flavor profile is evident in the mouth, picking up some licorice notes. The Warden celebrated those who cleverly ruled theses cunning convicts with top guard, using them as a source of labor to build public facilities ? transforming them into colonists ho forged a new country brick by brick. These men and women, both the incarcerated and their custodians, were the building Blocks of the nation that has now been known as Australia.
