Tasting Notes

Nose : Heavy, thickly oaked and complex: some curious barley-sugar notes here shrouded in soft smoke. Big, but seductively gentle, too;

Taste : The delivery, though controlled at first, is massive! Then more like con-fusion as that smoke on the nose turns into warming, full blown peat, but it far from gets its own way as a vague sherry trifle note (curious, seeing how there are no sherry butts involved) - the custard presumably is oaky vanilla - hammers home that barley - fruitiness to make for a bit of a free-for-all; but for extra food measure the flavours develop into a really intense chocolate fudge middle which absolute resonates through the palate;

Finish : A slight struggle here as the mouthfeel gets a bit puffy here with the dry peat and oak; enough molassed sweetness to see the malt through to a satisfying end, though. Above all the spices, rather than lying down and accepting their fate, rise up and usher this extraordinary whisky to its exit.

Peated Indian Single Malt Whisky. Procured from another distillery and polished at Amrut, Neidhal ?is the first independent bottling in India,? says Amrut's head distiller Ashok Chokalingam.

Amrut has now conceived and launched a new umbrella brand - 'single Malts of India? to showcase some of the hidden gem malts of India. The first chapter of this release, titled the Neidhal will be a limited release of 12,000 bottles across the world.

Ancient Tamil texts, dating back to the Sangam period (300 BC ? 300 AD), classify mother earth into five regions called Tinais, each being associated with its own distinct literary style, grammar, mood, subtle as well as overt form of romance, culture and even cuisine. ?Neidhal?, according to this classification comprises all Oceans and neighboring regions or in short Coastal Plains and the way of living one associates with them.

Neidhal is a single malt eponymously sourced from a Neidhal or coastal region and exhibits traits that uniquely spring from the locale - notes of tropical fruits, vanilla punctuated by soft phenols and above all sea salt on the nose. On the palate, it is fruit cocktail and mesmerising phenols with a touch of iodine. The middle ground is an essay in chewability and a finish that is phenolic with a touch of sweet vanilla.

  Brucato Chaparral Amaro is a unique and flavorful amaro that is handcrafted using a blend of over 25 botanicals, including wild herbs and flowers that are native to the chaparral region of California. This artisanal amaro is made by Brucato Spirits, a small-batch distillery located in Los Angeles that is dedicated to using locally sourced ingredients to create high-quality spirits with a distinctive character. The aroma of Brucato Chaparral Amaro is a blend of warm spices, citrus, and floral notes, with a hint of earthy undertones. On the palate, the amaro is bold and complex, with a rich and well-balanced taste that is both bitter and sweet. The flavors of orange peel, cinnamon, and cardamom are complemented by a subtle hint of sage and other herbs, creating a unique and memorable taste. Brucato Chaparral Amaro is best enjoyed as a digestif, served neat or over ice, or as a key ingredient in cocktails. It pairs particularly well with whiskey or bourbon, and can also be used to add depth and complexity to classic cocktails like the Negroni or the Manhattan. With its bold and distinctive flavor profile, Brucato Chaparral Amaro is a must-try for amaro enthusiasts and cocktail lovers alike.Buchanan's Two Souls is a blended Scotch whisky finished in ex-Don Julio tequila barrels. According to Science Direct, Scotch whisky must be matured for at least three years in oak barrels.

In 2019, Barrell partnered with small and large producers across the United States to select malt whiskeys that express the full diversity of American terroir and style. The resulting blend was the first to showcase the growing category of American single malt in this way. American Vatted Malt is an homage to the old Scottish category of vatted malt, which was once the preferred nomenclature to describe a blended whisky made entirely from single malts.

This blend was a challenging one technically, as it brought together a variety of unique components. We strived to balance the distinctive tang of Southwestern mesquite smoke with the sweet and creamy maltiness of malted barley, and to contrast briny coastal peat with the warm vanilla character of toasted oak. The resulting blend is complex and multi-faceted, rewarding the drinker with unfolding layers of flavor.
