5-Star Armenian Brandy 750ml

Ararat have been in business since 1887, but only started distilling brandy in 1902. The company was founded by Nerses Tairyan and Vasily Tayrov, who operated out of a former fortress in Yerevan. They used traditional French distilling equipment to produce their spirit. Ararat Armenian Brandy is said to have been given to Winston Churchill at the Yalta Conference. The wartime leader was said to have enjoyed the tipple so much that he ordered an annual supply of 400 bottles. The brandy is made with local grapes from the Ararat valley, and contains some varieties that are only found within Armenia. 13 grape strains are used in total, with the main varietals being Voskehat, Garan Dmak and Kangun. This bottling has been aged for 15 years in Armenian oak casks. Armenian oak typically has a tight grain, and is only felled once it has reached full maturation, around 70 years old. The final result is a rich, fruity brandy packed with notes of dried fruits (particularly dried apricot), sweet grapes, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, vanilla, chocolate, marzipan, dark oak, and slight espresso. Extremely popular in its home country, this is a superb alternative to French Cognacs.?

Le Singulier is a stand out Cognac for many reasons, but we'll just try to single out a few. What sets it apart is not only its Fine Champagne origins, premier cru provenance meaning it contains rich and complex eaux-de-vie, but in fact its use of an unusual and rare grape variety, the Folle Blanche.

The choice to use this single grape in Le Singulier's blend means it is marked by a remarkable aromatic intensity that many connoisseurs won't have experienced before (as 98% of Cognacs are produced using the Ugni Blanc grape...) This rare, forgotten and fabulous grape variety was almost entirely wiped out by the phylloxera disaster of 1875, meaning this selection is unique and highly sought amongst Cognac connoisseurs.

Augier Le Singulier Cognac?has been produced using a single distillation method, a natural wine fine lees process that produces a more refined, expressive flavor profile, meaning the extensive array of aromas are individually identifiable, one after the other. This traditional "on the lees" method has been used in Cognac for centuries, handed down through the generations since the estate was founded in 1643, making it one of the oldest existing houses in the region.

The 30-year-old Ararat Erebuni comes in luxurious gold packaging engraved with ancient cuneiform repeating the stone inscription. Rose gold and sterling silver color- combination gives outstanding look and emphasizes the extraordinary status of the product, its complexity and splendor. This unique blend embodies the triumph of passionate, talented and generous people and is the true quintessence of Armenian heritage. Ararat Erebuni brandy is made up of more than 30 rare and vintage spirits that have been biding their time in the cellars of the Yerevan Brandy Company. Therefore, Erebuni has a rich amber color with touches of mahogany.?

Fat Thumb offers baked apple cobbler, caramelized pear, toasted oak and coconut, vanilla, nutmeg and clove, red apple, overripe pear, traces of caramelized banana, rich, silky mouthfeel.

Just as Prohibition was repealed on December 5, 1933, we began growing California grapes, and by 1938 we were making brandy. Eight decades and countless barrels later, we launched Argonaut.
