Our Pinot Noir offers notes of fresh cherry juice, raspberry, and touches of vanilla and nutmeg, weighted with florest floor and a striking minerality on the finish.
In a sense, our winemaker is a lot like a painter. He starts with an idea. Then, with our home winery in the heart of Sonoma's Russian River Valley as his studio, he carefully assembles his "palette" from the best vineyards California has to offer, optimizing the depth and nuance of each using a mix of traditional and modern techniques. Next he blends, drawing on the aromas, flavor and structure of each lot to capture the ideal in his mind's eye. It's how we make Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc that consistently draw awards. And it's how we make wine you'll look forward to opening every night.Courtney Benham, ProprietorThere's the typical gentleman farmer stereotype so common today in wine country. And then there's Courtney Benham, who is of a different mold entirely.Growing up in the San Joaquin Valley and experiencing the rigors of farming firsthand inured Courtney to the romance of the grape. What called him-and calls him still-was the business side of the equation. Courtney founded Angeline in 2001 to raise the bar on every day value wines.Courtney recognizes that great wine is the sum of more than just good grapes and a talented winemaker; it's the result of an efficient, nimble whole. A lean core team broadened by a stable of expert consultants and top-tier growers means Courtney has access to the best fruit and the best minds. His business model unleashes the full potential of both, by fostering creativity and spontaneity while making the most of traditional technique and state-of-the-art equipment at the Angeline winery in Russian River Valley. It's this "whole" that allows Courtney to consistently create top-quality wine that surpasses any of its peers."I love the challenge of creating incredible wines that over deliver. That's where I like to play."
Don't let this masterful blend escape you. Each powerful note brings you one step closer to a night filled with mischief and fun. The Warden is a Shiraz-based red blend with tons of richness and complexity. On the nose, there is ample plum, currant, and cherry intermixed with vanilla and cinnamon spice. The same flavor profile is evident in the mouth, picking up some licorice notes. The Warden celebrated those who cleverly ruled theses cunning convicts with top guard, using them as a source of labor to build public facilities ? transforming them into colonists ho forged a new country brick by brick. These men and women, both the incarcerated and their custodians, were the building Blocks of the nation that has now been known as Australia.
Harvested from vineyards across Napa Valley, this bold Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of warmer climate hillside vineyard fruit and valley floor fruit creating a wine that celebrates the region's diversity and complexity. A deep dark purple in the glass, this wine opens with a bouquet of boysenberry, bourbon and toasted vanilla aromas with a waft of caramel. Full-bodied with a plush entry, layers of brown sugar, cocoa, mulling spices and currants fill the mouth and are complemented by rich, round tannins. The finish is long and smooth.
1881 Napa was created in one of the Napa Valley's oldest historical Victorian homes with a mission to celebrate the origins of America's premier winemaking region and the pioneers that founded it. The history of 1881 Napa is tied inextricably to that of its neighbor, the Oakville Grocery. At the gateway to the Napa Valley stands a landmark historical Victorian home and the oldest continuously operating grocery store in California, founded in 1881. This beloved general store served the visionary pioneers who first planted grapes in the valley. The adjacent founder's home at the junction of Oakville today honors the rich history, legacy and heritage of this world-famous wine region. Known as 1881 Napa, it presents the appellations of Napa Valley to provide a comprehensive discovery of its diversity, abundance, world-renowned terroir and deep history.
